Discipleship City Words
An essential element of discipleship is "common temptations". This aspect establishes credibility and authenticity with the disciple. When we teach new believers about their new life in Christ, it is critical to establish the reality that trials, temptations and hardship are right around the corner. Satan does not like those who commit to love and follow Jesus. The reality is that he will hurl his same ole tired schemes in front of new believers. Those first few weeks can be very trying.
We can help new and renewed believers by specifically and authentically communicating that their new found life will not only be filled with love, joy, peace, patience and kindness; it will be accompanied by ups, downs, trials, tribulations and temptations. Authenticity is one key to establishing a firm foundation in Christ Jesus. A pretentious picture perfect portrayal of the new life is Christ is deceptive at best. Pretentiousness damages the testimony of the church, and sets up failure for new or renewed believers.
Forty-five folks, mainly from NWF, attended the First Steps Discipleship Seminar on Saturday, June 13th at NWF in

Limited Time Offer?
The chance not worth taking has to do with your child. If there is one offer you cannot miss out on, it is the chance to teach your child to know, love and follow Jesus. What on earth is more important? Is there any sale, any job, or any task that exceeds the God given responsibility of raising a Godly child?
The Jews call it bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah. These are the "his and her" versions of the age of accountability. It is that time frame in which children become accountable to God. It is a limited window of opportunity you have to teach and influence your child. Once they cross that threshold; once they become of age, the returns on your efforts begin to diminish. This is really a limited time opportunity, and you dare not fall asleep on the job.
"Hand Off" is the title for our Discipling Your Child Seminar this weekend. We’ll be holding the First Steps One-On-One Adult Discipleship Seminar, and “Hand-Off” the Discipling Your Child Seminar at NorthWest Fellowship in Austin this Weekend!
Don’t miss it! Check the schedule on-line and sign-up today! Limited time offer…

I Will Never be the Same

These testimonies speak to the encouragement that comes from actually pursuing the Great Commission. We talk a lot about evangelism and discipleship in the church. First Steps gives you the resources, the equipping, and the plan to actually do it. The seminar deals with the common obstacles to actually carrying out the Great Commission here in the U.S.A."I will never be the same"
"I've been waiting for a format for discipling others and now I have one. PTL!"
The seminar "convicted me to get on the ball. I am complacent".
"I dreaded the role play, but it was GREAT!"
"The simulation gave me the comfort level to be able to disciple others"
The highlight for me was "actually believing that I could disciple a new believer".
TownWest Church hosted the seminar, and the First Steps approach is increasingly present in their congregation. John Byrd, a deacon at TownWest, knows first hand that First Steps makes discipleship easy.
The seminar was attended by eleven different churches. Pastors and Ministers were well represented with Education Pastor, Barry Whebee, traveling all the way from Plainview, Texas to attend the seminar. The seeds of discipleship are being sown all across Texas, and we look forward to seeing the harvest.
What are you waiting for? Northwest Fellowship in Austin, Texas is hosting a seminar on Saturday, June 13th. You may also find a seminar near you or invite First Steps to your area today!

Jump Start for Jerusalem Pentecostal Church
Timeliness is one of the key elements in discipling another to love Jesus. The first 90 days of a decision for Christ are critical; Waiting 30 days for a seminar would eat up much valuable time. So, this past Thursday night, I delivered a two hour teaching on how to use the First Steps Discipleship workbook. Daniel and two of his key leaders attended the session, and Jerusalem Pentecostal Church is on their way to discipling these new believers.
More disciplers are needed, so please pray that God will bring more disciplers and quickly equip those that are willing, so the new believers will get firmly established in the love of Jesus. Send an email or call me to learn more about bringing First Steps Discipleship to your area.

First Steps moving in Taylor
Ten churches were represented at the luncheon and all attendees gave a favorable response to the presentation, and plan to support the April 4th seminar to varying degrees. Some will be sending a few key leaders, while others plan to invite the congregation at-large. You can read more about the up-coming seminar at www.hismoralbanner.com/firststeps.
I also visited with Rev. Daniel Alderette yesterday afternoon. Daniel had already expressed interest in First Steps, but was unable to attend the luncheon. The church Daniel leads just added 13 new members, and he had been praying about how to best help these new folks. After we visited, he read the Swimming Lessons book, and today he confirmed an order for 20 workbooks and we're scheduling a mini-seminar to help get them jump started. The First Steps seminar is scheduled for April 4th, and Reverend Daniel recognizes the need to start discipling these new believers right away.
Please pray for the renewed commitment to discipleship in your church. We can bring these great resources to your church. Other First Steps Discipleship Seminars are coming to Texas soon!

Stretching the Church
Four churches in Rockdale, the Singles Ministry / Brazilian Mission Team from Great Baptist Church in Austin, and the America Bless God Campaign teamed up to bring evangelism and discipleship to Rockdale. On Friday night, folks attended the basketball team to support the home team. NFL Pro and International PowerTeam member, Keith Davis was on hand.
Saturday morning teams of two or three were sent out to knock on doors in Rockdale. The teams were telling folks about the PowerRally, praying/ministering to people, and sharing the Gospel of Christ. Many great testimonies were heard after the morning visits.
On Saturday evening, approximately 150 people gathered in the stands of the local Junior High gym to see Keith Davis and Joe Reed. They heard the gospel Celebration Choir from Great Hills and Randy Stripling. The gospel was preached in its simplicity and power. Cheers for Jesus were heard throughout the nights, and out of that small crowd, over 24 decisions for Christ were made. The power of the gospel is amazing. And the local churches are ready to disciple those that made decisions. Meadowbrook has been training with the First Steps material.
As I reflect on the weekend I see churches that were stretched into the realm were Jesus calls us to operate. While the Brazilian missions team from Austin is familiar and great at missions in Brazil, yet Rockdale is more like evangelizing in your own backyard. The local Rockdale pastors saw a genuine pursuit of the Great Commission. The local Rockdale church members engaged in something that is not common, and something that can be scary to do in your own home town.
I am so grateful for pastors Rick Hertless and Tim Moore. I am also grateful for Meadowbrook Baptist, Rockdale Christian, St. John's UMC and First Christian Church; all of Rockdale. It was inspiring to see some many eager to engage the community and simply amazing to see such a large percentage of the PowerRally crowd make a decision.
For me this is the beginning of the fulfillment of a prayer and a vision God placed in my heart seven years ago. The wonders of His working are mysterious and beautiful. People are very interested in pursuing simple efforts for the future. Let us be faithful in doing as He has commanded.

Commit to Christ Bride Program Launches in Rockdale, Texas
The America Bless God Campaign of Texas is pleased to announce the Commit to Christ Bride program in Rockdale, Texas. Radio and newspaper ads were launched today to help turn attention to the importance of the church. The program includes mission events over the ninety (90) day period from January 22nd through April 21st, 2009, and is aimed at strengthening church attendance in Rockdale.
Local pastors estimated the attendance rate at 12% of Rockdale’s population in the year 2005. The America Bless God Campaign will be measuring church attendance with a unique survey approach, at the beginning of the program and after completion. Successes will be leveraged as the program is executed in other communities.
The program has established mission projects between Rockdale churches and the larger metropolitan area churches. The first of these mission projects is the PowerRally to be held on January 31st at 6 p.m. This effort is a partnership between Great Hill Baptist Church of Austin, Texas and Meadowbrook Baptist of Rockdale. Pastors Tim Moore and Rick Hertless have partnered together with the America Bless God campaign. Rockdale churches of various Christian denominations are involved in the effort. Rockdale area folks attending the PowerRally will see and hear the powerful testimony of former NFL pro-football player, Keith Davis and other influential professionals.
What a privilege it is to be part of the Rockdale Power Rally. It’s a night to bring families and friends, men and women, boys and girls together for an encouraging word; to see for your self un-imaginable feats of strength. It a night to celebrate God’s goodness in song and praise; and to learn the truth of how to grow and build in the sense of God’s purpose and design for your life. The Power Rally will be a night you will long remember and will be forever grateful you were there. - Tim Moore, Missions Minister, Great Hills Baptist Church, Austin, Texas
We are going to spread the gospel of Christ through the PowerRally and other events, and we believe God will do great things by His Spirit to bring help and hope to our community. We look forward to seeing how God will use the efforts, as we prepare ourselves to disciple those who will come to know Christ. - Pastor Rick Hertless, Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Rockdale, Texas
The church plays a central role in shaping our culture and the future of this great society. The America Bless God Campaign is pleased to partner with Christian churches in order to boost the commitment of Americans’ to God. A web-site (http://www.christbride.net/) has been setup specifically to help connect folks in Rockdale to Christ’ Bride, the church.

First Steps Discipleship Momentum at TownWest
The luncheon led to a First Steps Discipleship Seminar which John also attended. Now God is at work using First Steps to reach people in Taylor. Below is a sample of the comments made by John at our Third Annual Banquet.
Click here to Watch and hear John's Testimony about First Steps Discipleship."... when we approach people about [discipling another], their first reaction is “Not me”, “I can’t do it”, “I don’t know enough”, “I won’t know what to say or how to say it”. The book, the First Steps book makes it so easy and so relaxed to be able to do it."
"So, [First Steps Discipleship has] got a lot of momentum going in our church"

Ad Campaign Update
We've been testing out the use of billboards, newspaper, radio and the Internet. We desire to use these to help turn America back to Biblical Morality, and are excited to announce two ad campaigns that are under development: "Take your Bible to School" and "Show Commitment".
We have pulled down the old billboards in Rockdale, and are preparing to re-launch our Rockdale effort and to launch PSAs regarding the Bible in Texas Schools. Read more on our main web-site and consider helping us make these campaigns a reality.

Independence Day in Liberty Hill
Overall, we prayed with seven or more people, witnesses to two unbelievers, helped a family needing a church home, signed-up over twenty people for the campaign mailing list, and took in about $250 in donations and sales.
Mr. Don Bebee of American Family Reunion invited us to the event. I had no idea how providential this event would be. We met Congressman John Carter and his opponent for the District 31 seat of the U.S. House, Mr. Brian Ruiz. We made contact with several different churches, including a youth minister from Eldorado.
The were varied needs among the folks we prayed with . We asked the Lord to help a veteran suffering from with Leukemia; A family with relational problems; A veteran concerned about our nation; School teachers in need of strength, and unbelievers in need of the Savior. We spoke at length with an off-duty police officer who thanked us numerous times for helping to steer our nation back toward God. The folks with visited with were very positive about the campaign.
John Auer and Andy Beers helped setup the booth. Rob Coker was there all day long, and was a great blessing with his willingness to talk to people. Rob shared encouragement from God's Word, told folks about our campaign, witnessed to folks, and prayed with those in need. Dede, Michael, and Bryana also helped operate the booth. We left Lions Foundation Park around 10:30pm, after the fireworks display. It was a long day, but very successful.
Thanks to Don Bebee and American Family Reunion for the great venue, and above all, thank God for His faithful provision.

Politics, Religion and Apple Pie
We live in the greatest nation on planet earth. Ours is unique. Ours is free. Ours is built upon liberty, not oppression. Yet, I must honestly say that I am direly concerned about the direction of our nation. I desire to hand my children and grand-children the nation that I grew up in. The land of freedom to succeed or fail. The land of independence. The land of the hardest working, bravest people in the course of history.
It is with great excitement that I say the following. We are going to the air-ways! The America Bless God Campaign will launch a new weekly radio program at the end of July, "Political Hope!" We aim to illuminate the intersection of religion and policy.
The Founders of the United States saw the deep connection between religious principles and good government. They knew that self-government and the separation of powers were central to liberty. We intend to give the citizens of America hope that our political system will survive the test of time. We aim to help people understand and simplify the varying ideological viewpoints that direct the policies of those in power. That's where the apple pie comes in.
Religion and politics are very controversial topics. Political Hope will feature live interviews with guests of opposing viewpoints. Apple pie and coffee are needed to help develop friendship and respect in the midst of our differences, as we talk with you and the guests live on the air.
Save the date. We're launching on Sunday, July 27th at 4pm.

Will someone please bake a pie for us? You can listen on-line at http://www.klgo.net/ or over the airways in Austin, Texas on The Word, 98.5 or 99.3 FM, Teaching and Talk for Austin and Central Texas. Please make plans to call us on the air to talk Politics and Religion with a mouth full of apple pie.
